Simple Weight Loss Tips

July 26th, 2010

If you scan the Internet, you’ll find more weight loss programs than Imelda Marcos has shoes. While I am not knocking any program per say, there are some very simple things that we can all do, short of extreme dieting, that if done by themselves, will probably lead to loss of weight without all the fancy diets. A lot of it really just comes down to sensible eating. In this article, I’m going to leave you with just a few tips that I am sure will make a world of difference if not totally lose you the weight you’re lugging around with you.

The very first thing that is sure to lose you more pounds than you can imagine is to stay out of the fast food restaurants like Burger King and McDonald’s. The amount of calories in a regular Whopper sandwich are enough to feed you for a whole day. When you think about that, and the fact that you’re probably eating at least two other meals during your day, not to mention how many snacks, it’s no wonder you’re overweight. If you want to go to a fast food place, go to Subway. Their sandwiches are low in fat and actually quite healthy. Just stay away from the chips and carbonated soft drinks. The artificial sweeteners in diet soft drinks are plain unhealthy so stay away from them too. Water is your best bet. Drink lots of it during the day.

The next thing you want to do is exercise as much as you can. Naturally, each person has a different degree of mobility and some of us can’t do much exercise at all. Do what you can because it is only during activity that you burn up any significant amount of calories. So if you’re working a desk job from 9 to 5 and then go home and plant yourself in front of the TV for the evening, don’t expect to lose a lot of weight, no matter how little you eat, unless you literally starve yourself.

The next thing you want to do, and this is the hardest part for most people, is cut out the high calorie foods, such as rich desserts. Did you know that if you ate nothing else all day except for a piece of 7 layer cake, you’d have about half the total number of calories that you need for your daily allowance. Giving up sweets was the hardest thing I ever did, because I was a real chocolate fiend. But if you’re going to have a real chance to lose those pounds, especially if you are very overweight, then the sweets have to go. Eat some fruit. Have an orange or an apple. They have fiber, they’re good for your digestive system, they’re good for you and they’ll help take off the pounds.

The truth is, if 90% of the people who were overweight in this world did just these few simple things, a good portion of those people would lose the excess weight in a safe and effective manner.

You don’t need fancy high priced diets to lose those pounds.

Just a little common sense will do.

Natural Weight Loss Tips and Techniques

July 23rd, 2010

Stress is one of the major causes of obesity. Nowadays stress is the part of daily life that most of us don’t even notice it. Changing our eating habits is one of the best natural cures for obesity. Regular exercise plays an important role in reducing the weight naturally. Regularly scheduled aerobic exercises are best for losing fat; playing outdoors games, any extra physical activity helps burn calories.

Eating fast food during lunch, eating a bagel while driving to work, or just rushing through your evening meal can be harmful for your health. Being late, not having enough time, and feeling under pressure to do something more important than eating are all real problems, no doubt about it. But they are not life threatening problems.

Unfortunately, your body doesn’t know that, so it shuts down your digestive processes to save energy for the all important fight. You might end up with a high risk of heartburn, digestive upset or other health problems, and your metabolism is going to slow down. This can be a main cause for fat. Those who are trying to lose weight, the stress hormones will make you fatter, even if you don’t eat more.

Worrying about what you eat can also increase your stress hormones. It seems unfair, but a constant anxiety about what you are eating or about how “bad” you’re being because you’re now eating some burger, potato chips or ice cream – will bring on those entire metabolism slowing stress hormones.

Exercises are another important factor in loosing some fats and maintain your weight. You should exercise for minimum 30-minutes per day. The aim of exercise for weight loss is to burn up the extra calories that you have taken in as food and drink, although exercise certainly offers many other benefits as well. Make some several trips up and down stairs instead of using the elevator and, if possible, walk instead of taking the bus.

If you take tea or coffee with less sugar or no sugar, this will help to maintain or cut down the weight. Don’t use an artificial sweetener. If you regularly drink soda or alcohol, cut down on it.

I hope I have discussed all the common home treatment for weight loss that will help you to remove your extra fat naturally with no harmful effects.

Lifestyle Tips for Quick Weight Loss

July 20th, 2010

If someone told you that you only need to diet and exercise in order to lose all that extra fat you have acquired over the holidays, and if you have followed that bit of advice, I am sure you have realized by now that diet and exercise alone cannot help you.

Diet and exercises are just the starting points of weight loss, but there are several other things you need to do besides those. Let me tell you about four such lifestyle changes you need to make in order to achieve weight loss quickly and easily.

1. Get rid of stress: Stress is one of the major causes of obesity, so try to get rid of it. You are more likely to eat junk foods in times of stress than otherwise, as people usually derive great comfort from these delicious foods. Once you get stress out of your way, weight loss would become easier for you.

If something or someone is bothering you, think about how to bypass or get rid of that thing or person. Also, don’t bring your office workload back home; leave office work at office itself. Come back home and have a nice time with your family and forget about what happened in office.

2. Enjoy your life: You live only once, so there is no reason why you wouldn’t enjoy your life. Remember that indulging yourself in fun and recreational activities would help you cope up with stress. If your hobby is cycling or ice skating, do it. If you want to go to the movies, do it. If violin is your addiction then play it. In short, do whatever makes you happy, but at the same time, keep yourself away from certain bad habits or excesses.

Indulging yourself doesn’t mean a trip to your local fast food restaurant. Similarly, going to the movies doesn’t mean munching on calorie-rich popcorn for hours.

3. Steer clear of unhealthy habits: They say that habits die hard, but if you are serious about weight loss, you MUST make an effort to change your bad habits. If you smoke or drink alcohol regularly it is time to bid them adieu. If you smoke or drink because of stress or boredom you should find alternative remedies for those problems because neither smoking nor drinking can help you in any way; on the contrary, these habits would harm your health a lot.

4. Keep yourself hydrated: If only people would drink water as much as they eat junk foods. If you want to lose weight fast, keeping your body hydrated at all times is very important. Of course, you shouldn’t be drinking fizzy drinks, processed fruit juices, alcohol, soda, etc., as they would make your body dehydrated and add a lot of extra pounds to your already huge belly. What you should be drinking instead is plain cold water.

Many people tend to be so busy that they often forget to take along a bottle of water with themselves. No matter wherever you’re going, whether you are going to office or gym, always keep a bottle of water with you as it is your friend. Water not only flushes out all the toxins from your body but also boosts your metabolic rate, thus helping you burn fat fast.

Start incorporating all these healthy habits right from today in your lifestyle and that day is not far when you won’t feel ashamed of prancing on the sea beach wearing a two-piece bikini.

Weight Loss Food Tips

July 17th, 2010

You might think in order to be successful at weight loss you will have to go on some form of a starvation diet or at least eat foods that are tasteless and nasty. You know, stuff like plain yogurt, tofu, cottage cheese and such. No offense intended if you like these but many of us don’t.

Nothing could be farther from the truth. Healthy eating will be enjoyable and there will be no need to miss any meals, in fact you will be adding meals! Here are a few weight loss food tips that will give you an idea of how fulfilling successful weight loss can be.

* Consume enough calories but not to many.
* Keep your servings modest
* Eat a variety of foods.
* Limit but don’t exclude sugar, salt, refined grains.
* Enjoy your favorites moderately.
* Eat smart.

Find out what your daily caloric intake is and compare it to what is recommended for your height and age. If your daily intake and what you should be taking in are not to far apart then cut back to the recommendation. If the spread is more than 500 then only reduce by 500. After your body adjusts you can reduce 500 more later.

Keep your servings small, not tiny but modest. Eat only one serving, no seconds. It helps if you use a medium size dinner plate or smaller and be sure to eat slowly and enjoy your food. If you take time to eat your hunger will subside before you are finished and the temptation for a refill will be gone.

Eating a variety of foods is important. Eat from all the food groups and especially concentrate on fruits and vegetables. These types of foods are scientifically proved to raise your metabolism, helping your body to burn fats more efficiently. If you don’t have a strong desire to eat these foods don’t worry. It doesn’t take long and you will enjoy them.

We eat far too much sugar, salt and refined grains. In excess these at the very lest are counter productive in your weight loss plans. Start reading food labels and get a feel for what the foods you are eating contain. Once you commit this to memory it will be easier to cut back on these types of foods. No need to go postal here but as your eating habits change for the better this will become an easier task.

We all have favorite foods such as chocolates, ice cream, cookies, chips and so on. I like all of these! The secret here is to eat these once in a while for a treat and not use them for meals. Put a moderate portion on a plate or in a bowl, put the rest away and then enjoy. If you are eating out of a big bag of chips it is difficult to stop.

Educate yourself. Lean about the foods you eat, what they contain, best ways to prepare them and what goes with what. Never miss any meals, especially breakfast. Many successful diet programs encourage eating four or five smaller meals a day. Keep improving on your eating habits. Use these weight loss food tips and eat smart!

Good weight loss tips for women with PCOS?

July 15th, 2010

I am 14 years old and have PCOS. As a result of this i am overweight. I have been eating healthily and taking part in regular exercise for 3 years now and the weight is still not shifting! Any one got any tips for weight loss? This would help loads :)

Hi Emma.I am 20 years old and I also have PCOS and have been overweight. My mom is a personal fitness trainer and nutritionist and has helped me out.So I’ll tell you what she taught me. Eat 6 meals a day. 3 meals with 3 small snacks in between. Your body weight and age determine how many calories you should have per day and intern how many calories you should have per meal. I would guess around 1500 calories a day judging by your age. Eat balanced meals consisting of proteins(fish, chicken, and egg whites are good sources of protein), carbs, and vegetables (not starchy vegetables like corn for example. They count as carbs.) NEVER go on low carb diets. The lack of carbs is replaced by water intake which means as soon as you begin to up your carb intake again you will gain it all back. Stay away from soft drinks, caffienated drinks, alcohol, and sugary drinks.Drink LOTS of water. Also stay away from sugary foods.I recommend greek yogurt which is low in fat, calories, and sugar.Mix it with a little organic granola and it makes a great snack.I also like raw baby carrots. This healthy eating habit shouldn’t even be called a diet.It should become part of your lifestyle. As for exercise start slowly because you have to work your body up to being able to take on a tougher workout. For cardio start with a quick paced walk for thirty minutes. After about a week quicken your pace to a jog and after another week try running. If you feel like your not ready to run yet continue jogging but jog for 45 minutes instead of 30.An important thing to remember is to keep pushing yourself more and more in your workouts.Slowly add more time or a faster pace or more resistance. If your workout is at a stand still, your weight loss will be at a stand still as well.Your weight and age also indicate what your heart rate should be when you are working out. This is a good reference website to go to in order to learn how to calculate yout target heart rate.http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Your-Target-Heart-Rate.A good exercise plan always consists of both cardio and weight training. Cardio without weight training results in flabby untoned tissue! if you are training alone I recommend staying away from large weight machines. You may hurt yourself. Stick with the small plastic dumbells. In fact I recommend yoga and pilates which really work your core as well as multiple muscle zones in your body and are great for toning.Keep in mind that 30 minutes of exercise a day is required to see significant changes.Unless you live an extremely active lifestyle the activities of normal daily life do not burn enough calories for weight loss.Supplement your eating and exercise with a daily multi-vitamin. I also take CLA or Conjugated Linoleic Acids. They reduce fat and preserve muscle tissue, but purchase them at a legitimate store rather than online.Online offers are usually scams ,and pills sold online by sketchy sellers can be dangerous. Also talk to your doctor first to be sure they are safe for someone your age. I recommend keeping your doctor informed throughtout your weight loss process just to be sure you are being as safe and healthy as possible. I have lost 20 pounds(9.08 kilograms) in about 3 months using this process.Good luck and stay motivated! =D

Does Xenadrine ultra fast weight loss drink mix work?

July 11th, 2010

If it does work how long do you see some results? And when is it good to take it or how many should I take? I’m doing weight watchers too so that will help because I have 25 points to eat every day and I have to eat small amount! So does this stuff really work?

All the over the counter diet pills are money makers for a company. They are filled with caffeine to give you energy, but you will crash. Stick with the weight watchers. If you want to try something, try a body cleanse.

Important Weight Loss Tips for Everyone

July 11th, 2010

Effective weight loss requires self control, motivation and strategy. You can’t go into a weight loss regimen without enthusiasm and the proper mindset. This article will explore some of the things which contribute to our ability to lose weight and keep it off.

One of the factors which contribute to successful weight loss is appetite control. Being able to control your appetite equals having better control over your weight. The best way to attain hunger control is to consume small meals more frequently throughout the day. By now everyone knows that consuming two large meals in a given day is bad for you. This type of an unhealthy meal routine eventually leads to sluggish metabolic activity and more calories stored. When you consume smaller meals your metabolism can quickly and effectively break down the food without becoming overworked and sluggish. Furthermore, some people quiet down their hunger urges with the help of all natural appetite suppressants, such as the hoodia pill. This form of appetite suppression can be very effective as long as the diet pills you are using are 100% pure hoodia gordonii. This particular succulent has been used by various tribal people for several thousand years to promote good health and curb hunger without any side effects.

It is also very important for everyone to have a realistic mindset when going into a weight loss program. You shouldn’t expect to lose five pounds in five days; that is nearly impossible. Weight loss takes time and effort. It is process that may be difficult at times, however, in the long run it can be very rewarding. Simply keep in mind that one pound of fat equals 3,500 calories. With this knowledge in mind, write down realistic goals and timelines for your weight loss journey.

What diet or lifestyle change have you tried that gave you fast weight loss results?

July 9th, 2010

Please share your tips & techniques on foods, exercise, lifestyle changes that gave you fast results in losing weight!

Thanks

=D
I agree Mickey! Determination/ will power is what makes a diet a success or an epic fail lol. We can have great diet plans & guidelines that will work if we do them right & to the T!
@Perfectangelana: How much weight did you lose in a week of eating just string cheese & drinking smoothies?

Drink plenty of mineral water as your main daily intake of liquid. I like Volvic, if you haven’t taken the challenge you should try, it really is full of volcanicity! A cheaper option would be to buy a Brita water filter.

Give up sugar loaded carbonated soft drinks. No more Dr Pepper, no more Pepsi. Just one can of Coke contains 31% of your recommended daily amount of sugar! If this is not possible, limit yourself to one can a day.

Walk when you can. Walk to the shops, walk to your weekly appointment, walk to the school, even walk to work if you want. If it’s within reasonable walking distance walk. You’ll save money on petrol too.

Eat sandwiches without margarine or butter whichever you use. I don’t find either of these improve the taste of the sandwich if you can taste it at all. In fact, you’ll hardly notice it’s not there.

Cut down on fast foods. I’m not telling you to give up, but to cut back on takeaway grub, maybe limit it to once a week or fortnight, and when you do buy in smaller quantities. Order a cheeseburger instead of quarter pounder, buy a small doner kebab, order a small pizza. And of course wash it down with a bottle of Buxton spring water!

If you usually eat a whole tub of Ben & Jerry’s in one, eat only half. If you usually eat six packets of crisps a day, eat just two. If you usually order 2 big macs, large fries, chicken nuggets and large cola, order just 1 quarter pounder, medium fries and a bottle of water.
